A heavy-weight printed leatherette with a soft, suede-touch back. Lays flat on first roll-out, wipes clean, and ages gracefully. Our flagship surface for the dining table and the games room alike.
Silk Mahjong is a small, design-led label of heirloom mats and accessories for the modern mahjong table. We design here, we finish here, and we ship direct to you - no warehouses, no middlemen, no compromises.

Silk Mahjong grew out of a specialist studio that has been printing and finishing bespoke textile and leather goods since 2002. Two decades in, we still produce every piece in the same workshop, on equipment we own, with a team that we train ourselves.
Each mat is printed to order. There are no mass runs sitting in a warehouse, and no item leaves the floor without being inspected, hemmed and packed by a person whose name we know. It takes a little longer this way - typically two to five working days from order to dispatch - but the result is a surface you can be proud to lay down.
A small note on the name: although we are called Silk Mahjong, our mats are not made of silk. The name evokes the heritage and tactility we design for. Our actual surfaces are a tighter, tougher choice for the way mahjong is really played.

A thick, cushioned neoprene with a non-slip rubber base and a tight printed surface. Tiles land softly. Built to be rolled, packed and travelled with - your set, ready anywhere.
Mahjong is having its moment. From dinner parties in Manhattan to standing groups in Los Angeles, Sydney and Singapore, a new generation has rediscovered an old game and made it their own. It is social, slow, tactile - everything our screens are not.
Silk Mahjong was born from that revival. We make the mat we wanted to put on our own table: properly considered, beautifully printed, and good enough to hand on. Whether you play American, Hong Kong or Riichi rules, we hope it feels like an upgrade you didn't know you were waiting for.
